PROBATION / DO NOT USE (DNU) STATUS

Those scheduled to participate in a clinical research study are requested to comply or to notify the staff if schedule complications arise. Non-compliance of schedules, drug usage, or cancellations could compromise the integrity of the trial and may put the participant’s safety at risk. For this reason, we’ve developed a standard eligibility restriction guideline which you can find below.

Screening No call/No Show/Cancellation (within 24 hours of screen):

  • First offense may result in a 30 day probation
  • Additional offenses may increase the probationary period or result in DNU status

Screening Positive Urine Drug Screen (+uds) *:

  • First offense may result in a 30 day probation
  • Additional offenses may increase the probationary period or result in DNU status

Post Screen Cancellation/No Call or No Show for Check in:

  • First offense may result in a 3 month probation or that lasts the length of study (whichever is longer)
  • Additional offenses may increase the probationary period or result in DNU status

On Study Positive Urine Drug Screen (+uds)*:

  • First offense may result in a 3 month probation or that lasts the length of study (whichever is longer)
  • Additional offenses may increase the probationary period or result in DNU status

On Study Drops:

  • First offense may result in a 3 month probation or that lasts the length of study (whichever is longer)
  • Additional offenses may increase the probationary period or result in DNU status

Repetitive tardiness may limit your study options or your acceptance into future studies. Tardiness to check in, returns and procedures in general is frowned upon.

Refusal to consume meals may limit your study options or your acceptance into future studies. Menus for confinement studies do contain meat products and should be consumed in full.

Providing false information, violations of clinic rules, disruptive behavior or destruction of property may result in probation or DNU status.

Refer to the “Information YOU Need to Know, Participant Policies for QPS” form for more information regarding our policies.

* If a +uds recheck is negative, the participant should still be counseled regarding our policy for positive results.

Probationary periods are based on participant history of attitude, reliability and studies completed. All DNU requests must be documented to explain the request. There should be at least one incident report, Call Log or notes in participant History pages in CMS to substantiate the request. The Senior Leadership Team (SLT) will review and decide on each DNU request to ensure a fair decision.

A participant placed on probation or in DNU (regardless of the length of time) may request a formal review. For this review, a participant must submit a legible, detailed account of “why he/she should not be placed on probation or in DNU”. Pertinent documentation to support his/her claim (e.g., death in the family – funeral program) should be submitted at this time. This type of request should be mailed in, emailed to the Recruitment Manager or submitted in person. Contact a Recruiting Coordinator to ask for email information or mail requests to QPS, Attn: Recruitment Manager, P. O. Box 2700, Springfield, MO 65801. Submissions will be reviewed by the SLT for a final decision.
