This team has over 50 years of combined research experience. Our team maintains regular communication with the sponsor partner throughout the clinical trial process. Martha Hernandez-Illas, MD, Medical Director-Phase I Unit is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. After completing residency and fellowship at University of Miami she pursued both a private practice in Rheumatology and clinical trials. In addition she was a voluntary faculty in Rheumatology at University of Miami and was a speaker for the Arthritis Foundation. Presently she dedicates all her time to early phase trials having conducted over 100 clinical trials.

Robert Salzman, MD, Assistant Director of Phase I Unit is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. Dr. Salzman graduated from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He received his medical internship, residency and fellowship at University of Miami Jackson Memorial Hospital/Jackson Health. He has served as principal investigator of numerous clinical trials since the 1970's. Dr. Salzman has authored many publications and has extensive research experience with internal medicine, rheumatology and early phase research studies.
